Letter of Thanks

December 19, 2018
Mike and Scott,

I would like to personally thank you both and your members who supported the Bike Drive of 2018. On Saturday, December 14th, we transported 68 bicycles to Airport Park in Matamoras and gave all but 8 away to families in need. We had the highest attendance rate since we began the program. Only 8 bicycles were returned to the shop and we have since found a home for them.

Skylands made a huge difference in the Bike Drive. Each family were aware that they were receiving a bike, but we did not promise a helmet on the invitation. To their surprise, we had a helmet for each and every child on Saturday. Thank you guys. Your contribution is greatly appreciated by us and all recipients. I have attached a receipt for your records.

Have a Merry Christmas! I look forward to riding with you guys in the New Year!

Holiday Charity Request

November 26 2018

We have received a request from a local charity for help in a Christmas bike helmet giveaway for at needy kids in the Milford PA area.

Action Bike in Milford is collecting 50 donated used bikes from the public for a holiday bike drive and tuning them up before distribution. They are also handing out brand new helmets with each bike. They are asking for help in defraying the cost of the helmets. They purchased 50 new helmets from Cannondale at a discounted price of $16.25 for a total of $825.

They are just outside our area but I think that we should help cover at least part of their costs. This is part of our mission to help promote cycling as well as helping families in need during the holidays. The Skylands Board has voted on contributing $500 toward this effort and several board members have also donated individually. We are reaching out to our membership to see if we can help cover the entire amount. If you would like to donate to this please send me an email with the amount you would like to contribute and please send a check to the address below.

We have also been invited to help with the distribution which will happen on December 15th. If anyone is interested in helping out please let me know.

Please make out checks to Skylands Cycling and mail to:

Thanks,
Mike

Giro del Cielo Addendum

July 10, 2018

I made an omision when I sent out the first thank you email to the volunteers and sponsors. I neglected to mention our event sponsor Dave Stern Tires and Bill Stern.

I sincerely apologize for the error. It was an oversight and entirely my fault.

Thanks again for all of the help provided. Kudos on the race continue to come in to both myself and Wayne.

Giro del Cielo Recap

July 8, 2018

I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you to each and every one of you who participated in making this years Giro such a great success!

We hosted over 380 racers this year and held 3 events in 3 different locations in 2 days! The feedback from all the racers, officials, and spectators was this event was incredible. Many said it was the best event that they ever attended. We hosted people from at least 10 states and from as far away as Minnesota! The Giro continues to grow every year. This year we held the road race at a new venue, High Point High School and the racers loved the new course even though it was harder than expected. We also had a new event sponsor Culligan Water Company who provided water for the event. We also for the first time had a food vendor at 2 of the stages.

The reason that we get such positive feedback it because of you the members of the club who volunteer their time to make this event the success that it was! We had a good mix this year of seasoned veterans and new club members who helped out. For a club of our size to put on an event this large is nothing short of amazing.

Once again thank you and we will soon be planning an event to show our appreciation for your help.

See you out on the road soon.

Mike

CONGRATS & THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR PUTTING ON THE BEST GIRO EVER!

July 8, 2018

We put on the best run event in the Tri-state area and it could not have been done without everyone's help.
The compliments were endless! We really make a great team. All the little things we do, really set an example of how to put on an event.
We had riders from all over the Northeast, from Pittsburgh to Buffalo to MA to North Carolina and as far west as Minnesota (OK, the kids from Minnesota just happened to be vacationing in NJ.)
Congrats and thanks,

Wayne

Good Morning all:

April 7, 2018

I hope that everyone is enjoying this beautiful spring weather! I know that I have had about enough of winter. My calendar says that it is riding season but mother nature does not agree. I just wanted to take a minute to let everyone know about some upcoming club events. Some of these we will need help with in running.

  • ATS is on the calendar for Tuesday evenings. So far we are 0 for 2 in getting the series started but there is no rain\snow in the forecast for next Tuesday so maybe we will get the series started. We will need some help in running this event. Both registration and setup\breakdown. If you can help please email me directly. Setup\registration starts at 5:15. If event is cancelled it will be on BikeMail & website by 3PM.
  • Thursday evening rides from Kittitinny should start soon. Please keep an eye on BikeMail for start times. LeeAnn and Eileen will be leading the 15-17 mph (fka "C") rides and Mike will be leading the 18+ mph (fka "B\B+") rides. We had fun last year with a little friendly competition between the groups and hopefully will be doing the same format this year
  • Weekend Rec Rides will also start soon. This year Scott will be heading this up. If anyone is interested in helping to lead a ride or has ideas on something they would like like us to do differently please email Scott or myself.
  • Police Unity Tour fundraiser is scheduled for next Sunday April 15th. Skylands Cycling runs this charity bicycle ride to help support and raise money for the Police Unity Tour. John Scully rides this event from NJ to Washington DC every year and the club also contributes money to this cause in addition to the registration fees. There is lunch provided by Sheridan's after the ride is over. The link to pre-registration is on: BikeReg
  • High Point Hill Climb TT is scheduled for Saturday April 28th. This year Andrew LoGiudice has stepped up to be the race director for the event and Scott Smith will be handing the volunteer portion (Registration\road marshals) for the event. Scott will be sending a Doodle survey in the next few days asking for help so we once again put on a quality event.
Please keep in mind that volunteering for any club sponsored events qualifies you for our rider reimbursement program. This club program provides partial reimbursement for ANY CLUB MEMBER to cover entry fees for ANY organized event\race that you participate in. This program is not just for the racers. Any charity ride or tri also is eligible for reimbursement as long as the volunteer requirement is met.

Hope to see you out there on the road soon.

Mike
