Congratulations to the 19 members of Skylands Cycling who competed in the annual High Point Hill Climb time trial on Saturday. No other club had as many participants as we did, which is fitting, since the course is on our undisputed turf. Dave Freifelder had the best time of the day, finishing 7th overall in 21:40. Dave averaged more than 15 mph on the 5.5 course, which includes grades as steep as 22%. Kevin Keane won the Category 4 competition in 22:53, ending up 18th overall while Kevin Haley was 2nd in the highly competitive 45+ masters category and 19th overall. Skylands Cycling had four podium finishers, seven riders in the top four, and 11 riders in the top ten in their categories. . Complete results for all 163 riders who entered this popular event are available at www.bikereg.com. Our top women’s climber, Heather Labance, was unable to ride the Hill Climb Saturday because she was in Massachussetts riding in the Jiminy Peak Road Race, where she finished fifth in the women’s open. As many of you know, Heather has been invited to ride with Quark Cycling, the top domestic women’s pro team, in several upcoming races, including the prestigious Tour of Somerville, on Monday, May 27, 2005. The race in Massachusetts was part of her preparation for these races. Below are the results for our club members.
